Islamabad: The Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, has announced that elections are scheduled to take place on February 8 and assured that they will be conducted with transparency. Presently, both the PTI and its chief are not prohibited from participating in the electoral process.

In a recent interview, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized that the elections, set for February 8, are anticipated to unfold transparently. He expressed optimism that the election arrangements in place are likely to yield comparatively favorable outcomes.

Addressing inquiries about the leaders’ popularity, the caretaker prime minister asserted that the true measure of a leader’s popularity will emerge through the electoral process.

Regarding the status of the PTI chief, he clarified that neither the PTI chief nor the party is currently disqualified from contesting in the elections. However, he added that unforeseen circumstances could alter the situation.

Reflecting on the aftermath of the May 9 tragedy, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar stated that PTI leaders voluntarily withdrew from the political scene, emphasizing that it was a personal decision and not indicative of any state coercion.

When questioned about economic recovery measures, the caretaker prime minister highlighted the government’s success in curbing illegal trade with the assistance of the army. He revealed that illegal trade, amounting to 30 to 50 billion monthly, has been halted. Additionally, expert advisors have been appointed to address issues related to PIA timber.
