Supreme Court Concludes PTI's Request for BAT Symbol as Withdrawn

In Pakistan, the highest court, the Supreme Court, finished dealing with a request from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. PTI was challenging a temporary decision by the Peshawar High Court that took away their symbol for elections, which is a bat.

During the hearing, PTI decided to withdraw their request because a similar case about bringing back the ‘bat’ symbol was already happening in the Peshawar High Court.

The three judges in charge, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, listened to the case. PTI’s lawyer, Hamid Khan, pointed out that there was another case like this in the Peshawar High Court.

At the same time, a two-judge team in the Peshawar High Court heard PTI’s request to tell the Election Commission to give back the ‘bat’ symbol. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expected a decision from the Peshawar High Court by 11 a.m.

Before this, the Peshawar High Court had decided to agree with the Election Commission’s choice, which took away PTI’s bat symbol. Because of this, PTI went to the Supreme Court. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan felt sure that the bat symbol would be given back and promised that PTI would follow the court’s decision.
