The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a stark warning of impending severe weather conditions across several regions in Pakistan. Within the next twelve hours, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper/southwestern Balochistan are expected to experience heavy rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms.

Heavy Rain, Windstorms, and Thunderstorms Forecasted Across Multiple Regions in Pakistan

Attributed to the influence of a strong westerly wave sweeping across the country, these weather phenomena are forecasted to persist for the next 36 hours. The Met Office underscores the likelihood of heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, urging residents and authorities to take necessary precautions.

Moreover, the PMD’s weekly forecast extends the weather turmoil, predicting rain with thunderstorms in upper/southwest Sindh on April 18 and 19, hinting at a continuation of unsettled weather patterns.

On April 18, high chances of rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are anticipated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, and upper/southwest Sindh. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is forecasted for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeast Balochistan, and northeast Punjab, with the possibility of hailstorms. Snowfall is expected over high mountains in northern areas, further complicating the weather landscape.

The PMD advises residents and authorities in the affected regions to remain vigilant, especially in areas prone to flooding, landslides, and other weather-related hazards. Travelers are urged to exercise caution and stay updated on weather advisories for their safety.
