In the first five months of the money year 2024, foreign investors took back a lot of money they made in Pakistan. The amount grew by 312%, reaching $532 million. Last year, during the same time, it was only $129 million. This is a big increase of $403 million.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) shared this information. They say that the increase happened because the rules about moving money were made easier. Before, the SBP had strict rules because the country didn’t have enough money, and they were in trouble. Pakistan also got help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to get more money.

When we look at the details, we see that the money coming from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) grew by 377%. Also, money from Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) increased by 58%. FDI money went up to $491 million, and FPI money increased to $41 million.

Different types of businesses send back money. The Petroleum Refining business sent the most, $78 million. The Food business sent $68.6 million, and the Transport business sent $68.4 million.

In November 2023, investors took back $47 million. $35.1 million was from FDI, and $11.7 million was from FPI.
