No Charges Filed Against Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Cipher Case

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood could not be accused in the cipher case, and the court postponed the hearing until tomorrow. The Special Court of Official Secrets Act presided over by Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, listened to the case.

During the hearing, PTI leader Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi were not formally accused in the cipher case, and the next hearing is scheduled for December 13. Today, the lawyers for Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi submitted three applications in court.

Barrister Salman Safdar, Imran Khan’s lawyer, stated to the media that no charges have been filed against the PTI leader yet. Some individuals were brought in for today’s hearing in the cipher case, and media friends were permitted to attend. Despite being denied access to an open trial, certain media members were seated 50 feet away from the judge. We reject this kind of open trial and have applied for an open trial. The cipher trial was rushed, and the entire process was invalidated.

Families were stopped for 45 minutes, and there were 15 to 20 policemen behind the judge without any apparent reason. The judge noticed and questioned why these policemen were standing when he had not given such an order.

It seems the law is not being followed, and earlier mistakes are being repeated. This trial should have started after the decision of the Divisional Bench of Islamabad High Court, but it is progressing rapidly here, and in the High Court, the petition related to Imran Khan has not been heard yet.
