Secretary of the Power Division, Rashid Langrial, officially inaugurated “The Mardan Model” in Islamabad, marking the city as a load-shedding-free zone due to the eradication of power theft and notable improvements in revenue collection within the region. This achievement positions Mardan as Pakistan’s first city to eliminate power theft.

Langrial emphasized that a nationwide campaign against power theft is currently in progress under the guidance of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. He further stated that load shedding across the country will cease when all power distribution feeders are free from theft-related activities. Mardan Becomes Pakistan’s First Power Theft-Free City.

Mardan, located approximately 50 kilometers from the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had one of the highest power losses, totaling around 56%. Nevertheless, through collaborative efforts across various departments, these losses have been significantly reduced to less than 8% in just two months, with power theft completely eradicated, as confirmed by ministry officials.
