Lahore High Court Judges Receive Threatening Letters

According to the Registrar’s Office, the judges identified as Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, Justice Alia Neelum, and Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh have been targeted in this alarming incident.

Of particular concern is that three of the judges, Justice Khan, Justice Hasan, and Justice Neelum, serve as members of the administrative body. Responding swiftly to the threat, officials from the counter-terrorism department have arrived at the LHC, where security measures have been significantly bolstered.

A forensic team has been dispatched to investigate the suspicious letters, while security personnel are meticulously reviewing footage from CCTV cameras installed around the high court premises.

This unsettling event follows closely on the heels of a similar incident at the Islamabad High Court, where eight judges, including Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, received letters suspected to contain anthrax. The sender, identified as an individual named Resham, failed to provide an address. Sources suggest that a court staff member accidentally dropped the envelope containing the suspicious powdery substance.

The staff member reported experiencing severe irritation in his eyes and burns on the skin around his lips. Subsequently, a first information report (FIR) was lodged by the capital police.
