Khushdil Shah Aims for Pakistan Team Return Despite T20I Setback

Pakistan allrounder Khushdil Shah is determined to reclaim his spot in the national team, expressing his aspirations to make a comeback and leave an impact in white-ball cricket on the international stage.

Khushdil Shah Aims for Pakistan Team Return Despite T20I Setback

The 29-year-old last featured in a T20I match against England back in October 2022. Despite being named the man of the match in his last ODI appearance, Khushdil has since been dropped from both limited-overs formats.

In a recent interview, Khushdil Shah voiced his disappointment, saying, “Based on my T20I performance, I have been dropped from the ODI team which was disappointing for me. However, I did receive the man of the match award the last time I played. I am working hard to earn my place back in the team.”

Despite his notable performances in the 50-over format, Khushdil’s struggles in T20Is, particularly in finishing matches and a tendency to lose his wicket in crucial moments, led to his omission from the T20 squad.

With just 309 runs in 29 T20I outings at an average of 20.6, Khushdil Shah acknowledges his need to regain form, especially given his role as a finisher in the T20I team.

However, despite his determination, Khushdil’s immediate return to the national team seems uncertain, as Pakistan has already announced their 17-man squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand, indicating that he may not be part of the current plans.
