Indonesia Introduces 5-Year Multiple Entry Visas

Indonesia has made a big change in its visa rules. They now have a new visa that allows people to enter the country multiple times for up to five years. This visa is called D1 or D2.

The main idea behind this new rule is to make it easier for people from other countries to travel to Indonesia for both business and tourism. Silmy Karim, the head of immigration in Indonesia, hopes that this new rule will encourage more people from around the world to visit the country.

The 5-Year multiple-entry visa allows foreigners to stay in Indonesia for up to 60 days each time they visit. This is different from the regular tourist visa, which usually lets people stay for only 30 days and allows only one entry.

There are two types of visas to choose from:

  1. D1 Visa: This is for people who want to visit Indonesia for leisure. They can explore the beautiful landscapes, vibrant cities, and rich culture for up to 60 days each time. Activities like sightseeing, visiting friends and family, and attending cultural events are allowed.
  2. D2 Visa: This is for business travelers. People with this visa can stay for 60 days each time and can participate in meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and business negotiations. However, they are not allowed to work full-time or engage in commercial activities that require a work permit.

Applying for these visas is now much easier. People can do it online without the need for complicated forms and visits to the embassy. The online process is simple – just fill out a form, upload some required documents, and make a secure credit card payment.

To apply, you need:

  • A valid passport with at least 6 months of validity.
  • A personal bank statement showing a minimum balance of USD 2,000 for the past 3 months.
  • A recent color photograph.

The new visa has several advantages:

  • Convenience: The online application makes it easier and faster to get a visa.
  • Increased Tourism and Business: It is expected to attract more international tourists and boost business activities.
  • Improved Visa Experience: Indonesia is now joining other countries like Australia and Europe in providing a simple online visa application process, making the experience better for foreign tourists.
