FBR Initiates Blocking SIMs and Utility Connections for Non-Filers

The boss of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan, Amjed Zubair Tiwana, said that from January 2024, they will begin stopping mobile phone SIM cards and cutting off the utility connections of people who haven’t filed their income tax returns.

Non-filers Face Sims and Utility Connection Blocks This Month

FBR is the government agency that collects taxes in Pakistan. Chairman Tiwana mentioned that the deadline to respond to the notices was between December 28 and 29, 2023. If people don’t reply to these notices, FBR will make a general announcement with the names of those who haven’t followed the rules, and as a result, their gas and electricity connections will be cut off.
