FBR Directs Integration of Payment Counters with POS for All Registered Retailers

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) wants all people registered for sales tax, including big retailers, to get special permission to use the FBR’s approved systems. The FBR made a new rule called S.R.O. 1788(I) of 2023 to change the Sales Tax Rules of 2006 on Monday.

The FBR says that any counter where you pay money, whether it’s fixed in one place or can move around, and makes bills for getting paid in cash or with a debit or credit card, has to be connected to the FBR’s approved system.

The person in charge of digital projects will lead the group that decides who gets permission. This group will say yes or no to an application within fifteen days of getting it. They will also say why they said yes or no. If a company gets permission, the group will make it official with the digital project person’s approval and tell everyone which companies got permission.
