In Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, the Election Commission has set the date for the upcoming elections on February 8, 2024. Here are the key points:

  1. On December 19, a public notice will be issued by the Returning Officer.
  2. Candidates can file their nominations from December 20 to 22.
  3. The names of nominated candidates will be published on December 23.
  4. Scrutiny of nomination papers will occur from December 24 to 30.
  5. The deadline for filing appeals against the decisions on nominations is January 3.
  6. The appellate tribunal is expected to decide on appeals by January 10.
  7. A revised list of candidates will be published on January 11.
  8. Candidates can withdraw from the election until January 12.
  9. Political parties will be assigned election symbols on January 13.
  10. The elections are scheduled to take place on February 8, as announced by the Election Commission.
