Eccentrica’s $1.3M Lamborghini Diablo Restomod: Modern Supercar Performance

The Eccentrica Lamborghini Diablo deserves more credit than the word ‘restomod’ can provide. Apart from being a collector of Lamborghini cars, the owner actively participates in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo one-make racing series. There is currently a restomod trend for cars from the ’80s and ’90s, such as the optimized Lancia Delta Integrales and updated Porsche 928s. Joining this trend is Eccentrica, a startup based in San Marino, Italy, which has recently unveiled a prototype of its upcoming “few-off” Lamborghini Diablo restomod build series. This venture aims to enhance the supercar with modern comforts and performance capabilities while preserving its spirit and aesthetic DNA, sparing no expenses. Upon closer inspection, one can observe that although the overall shape remains similar, every detail of the new composite body is different. Eccentrica is the brainchild of Emanuel Colombini, who initially made a name for himself in the furniture industry. While this may sound peculiar, it is worth noting that Christian von Koenigsegg patented click-together flooring before entering the hypercar realm. Eccentrica Introduces State-of-the-Art $1.3M Lamborghini Diablo Restomod, Enhancing Supercar Performance

Inspired by the bodywork and aero-kit of the GTR-spec Diablo, this unique vehicle was designed by the BorromeodeSilva design firm, known for their work on Nardone Automotive’s Porsche 928 Restomod. The intakes for the V12 engine have been reshaped, and the intricately designed rear deck now features two carbon fiber covers marked with “remove before flight” as a nod to fighter jets.

Colombini’s establishment of Eccentrica signals his ambition to become a leader in the restomod industry, and the Diablo project serves as a glimpse into what lies ahead. Besides being a successful furniture magnate with impeccable style, Colombini also races in Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo series and has achieved podium finishes in a significant portion of his races. While the car’s length and height remain unchanged, it has been widened to adopt a more contemporary stance. The front wheel arches appear to be “floating,” and both the front and rear-end designs showcase 3D-printed titanium grilles.

Colombini’s goal for the car was to achieve a modern aesthetic while enhancing its performance, all while maintaining the Diablo’s distinctive qualities, particularly its analog nature. With his racing experience, passion for Lamborghini, and financial resources, he is undoubtedly the right person to lead such a project.

Except for the windshield, the entire bodywork of the Diablo has been redesigned, featuring a new front splitter, side skirts with integrated aero fins, a rear diffuser, and Diablo SV-inspired rear intake scoops, all crafted from exposed carbon fiber. Notably, the rear section is one solid clamshell rather than a separate bumper, with a supporting brace-like structure. Underneath, an upswept Capristo exhaust can be found.

“In my childhood, I remember seeing the red Diablo in the first release of the Quattroruote magazine—it was love at first sight,” Colombini stated in a press release. From the exterior, this Diablo appears to be meticulously crafted with a keen attention to historical details. The hood, flanked by NACA ducts on both sides, has also undergone a complete redesign. It now features headlight housings that accommodate square projector-style LEDs and dual horizontally-running DRLs.
